I try not to read too much of it. It’s tough when he’s on Sky Sports and everywhere around the training ground sometimes. Obviously he was a great player and won a lot but I don’t know what he is with what he says about me or what the problem is he has.

Jack Grealish slams Souness after critics slammed his offers for Manchester City

Sportsmail Columnist Graeme Souness insists he “has no problem with anyone” after Jack Grealish (right) questioned why he criticized him so much.

Appear in TalkSPORTSouness continued the war of words but declared that he would probably get along well with Grealish if he met the 27-year-old.

Critics have also commented on criticism he has received in the past for being too harsh on former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.

“I don’t have a problem with him, I don’t have a problem with anyone,” Souness said. I have no problem with Jack at all. I think Jack is a good player, he’s technically great. I don’t think we can criticize the modern player.

When I was facing Paul Pogba, it was because it was Man United and I think I was the first to call up Pogba as a regular player in our league. I think I was proven 100 percent right at the end of the day.

Souness also responded to criticism he received for calling Paul Pogba ‘mean’.

I’m sure if I met Jack, I would really love Jack. I think he’s a cheeky guy. I’d like to spend a night with him too! But I think the modern player doesn’t handle criticism very well. I think Jack, you will listen to whoever you want to listen to.

I’m in talkSPORT with you guys, I love it. I have a column in the Daily Mail, where I had the opportunity to express my opinion while on Sky. I’ve had over 50 years in the game, and I think I’m entitled to my opinion.

I just feel… Don’t be so precious! I have no vendetta against anyone at all. It’s my opinion at this point on Jack Grealish. Jack really doesn’t have to listen to me, he doesn’t have to listen to anyone. The only opinion that matters to Jack Grealish should be that of the director.

Grealish scored his first goal of the season against Wolverhampton last week after only scoring three times in the Premier League in his first campaign as a City player.

Souness expanded on his criticism of Grealish’s playing style as he believes the striker is keeping the ball for too long.

“He has a dribbling ability that very few people have and that kind of ability puts you on the edge of your seat. But you have to give in at the end of it. It’s not just about dribbling past one or two and then giving it up when you try to beat the third.

If you are in a team of 11 and you have two strikers, the other nine are just carriers. They are there to serve the players who play up front, the ones who score goals, get points in the bag and win matches.

Everyone else on the team is there to serve them. The best way to send it is to get the ball as fast and accurately as you can. Don’t think about it unnecessarily, and don’t be smart when you don’t need to. This is a game of football in a nutshell.

I can’t believe a coach anywhere would ask their players to hold the ball for as long as possible. Anywhere, anytime in the history of the professional game. The best pass in football is the first time you pass it.
