Luton Town 2-2 Coventry City: Winless Sky Blues earn second point in recreational tie

Carlton Morris has scored five goals in his last five games at Luton, having joined from Barnsley this summer

Coventry City earned their first point since the opening day of the season as they came back twice from a goal down to draw 2-2 at Luton Town.

Carlton Morris gave an impressive lead to Luton so early on, but Victor Giocris equalized shortly after he missed earlier chances.

But Morris put the hosts ahead again after four minutes while Dan Potts rebounded with a header past Coventry in first-half stoppage time.

Gustavo Hammer’s superb long-range goal returned to Coventry level before the Blues escaped a late penalty appeal after Kyle McFadzen appeared to have stopped the ball with his hands.

The point suggests that Coventry – who has played three games less than his opponent due to home problems – are still at the bottom of the tournament and seven points from safety, while Luton climbed to 18th.
