Romano expects “15 clubs” to compete for Arsenal, Liverpool’s target. price request revealed

Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mikhailo Modric is one of the most important real estate in European football and is expected to cost more than €50 million, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Ukrainian youth has been linked with summer transfers, with Brentford and Everton reportedly making a bid to sign him.

However, the move failed to pay off and more and more clubs seem to be linking up with the 21-year-old on a daily basis.

In addition to the aforementioned English Premier League pair, He thinks Liverpool, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Sevilla are interested.

Arsenal could certainly do with a new winger following the departure of loaned Nicolas Pepe, who has returned to France to join OGC Nice.

On the other hand, Liverpool can handle anyone given their disappointing start to the 2022/23 season.

It was reported that Shakhtar’s position on Modric has changed since Manchester United paid €100m to sign Brazilian winger Anthony from Ajax.

The Ukraine international is clearly valued at around €35m, but he could cost around double that now given the ridiculous fees United paid for their illustrious new game.

While the ‘Manchester United tax’ is certainly important, so is the Premier League tax, and the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle have to pay more than the odds to sign anyone these days.

It is expected to be an interesting transfer story involving Modric, and although we know he can stay with Shakhtar until the end of the season.

The Ukrainian team has a good group in the Champions League and can qualify for the knockout stage.

Arsenal won’t be able to deliver that this season, while Liverpool hope so.

Having said that, transfer coach Fabrizio Romano said he believes Modric “will be linked to 15 clubs in the next three months”.

If a team makes an irresistible offer – which is quite possible given the level of interest in the player – he could sell Shakhtar in the winter transfer window.

“Despite the increasing speculation, I don’t have any updates on Modric right now – I think he will be linked to 15 clubs in the next three months, which is normal because he is a top talent, but nothing will be decided now,” Romano said caught abroad.

“Shakhtar will take their time and I’m sure they want more than 45-50 million euros for Modric…but we have to see how he performs in the Champions League in the coming weeks.

“I’m a huge fan of the player, I’m only 21 and I’m doing important things in the Champions League, but I can’t currently say much in terms of where we will see him in the future.”

Romano isn’t the only journalist to give an update on Modric’s situation this week.

according to CBS Sports Journalist Ben Jacobs, Modric “hopes” to be transferred in January.

The interest is very high and Jacobs has added German club Bayer Leverkusen and Dutch champions Ajax to the mix.

wrote on TwitterA little more on Shakhtar winger Mikhailo Modric, who has scored two Champions League goals in two matches. Modric is hoping to move in January and told me he “can’t say no” to the AFC.

“Many European clubs are now tracking him, including Newcastle, Sevilla, Leverkusen and Ajax.”

Jacobs added: “Everton turned down a €30m offer this summer.

“(Shakhtar) sporting director Darigo Srna says: Modric is a serious talent. After, after [Kylian] Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, is the best player in Europe in his position.

“If someone wants to buy Modric, they have to spend a lot, a lot, a lot of money and respect our club.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal will move in January. It’s important to note that they didn’t make any offers (or seriously consider them) in the summer. Lots of top clubs have been put off by Shakhtar’s €50m+ valuation and this will only rise as things go on.

“Shakhtar president Rinat Akhmetov is very assertive about price and does not expect to budge if Shakhtar qualify for the last 16 of the UCL Champions League. Modric has prepared for offers, though. He sees January as the right time to move.”
