Thursday 7.45 pm: Belgium – Wales
TV: S4C, Premier Sports 1, S4C Online

Wales head to Belgium on Thursday night for a first-division match, Group D, knowing that they really need to win if they remain in the first division of the Nations League. In reality, though, they’ll treat this as a super-competitive friendly with the World Cup looming on the horizon.

The Dragons only took one point from their four Nations League matches and have three points to make up for Poland to avoid relegation. Belgium trail the Netherlands by three points with two to play at the top of the table, but they shared the spoils when they met in this tournament in June.

History suggests that Wales should get something of this because Belgium has defeated them only once in the last seven meetings, in a race dating back to 2013. During that time Wales have won twice, and Belgium only one, with four draws also over the record.

The Red Devils are the favorites here, but given this string of results and the fact that Qatar are only two months away, I think we can expect another strong Wales performance as everyone is vying for a place on the board. At the price, we will support the hosts to cheat again and to Robert Page’s side to get something out of this with Wales and The Draw Double Chance.

Another topic when these two meet is the lack of goals. In the last eight matches, there have been only 17 goals averaging 2.13 per match, eight of whom have been involved in two matches.

These two games were the only ones in that round with over 2.5 goals giving us a 75% lower click-through rate since 2012 between these two sides. If we remove these two outliers, we will only have 1.5 goals in the remaining six matches, so everything is pointing towards that under 2.5 goal over here.

Predicting who will play can be a little tricky, but I suspect Wales will pick him up here and worry about the rest of the international break later. I think that means we see Brennan Johnson starting.

It would explode off the table and look great for scoring a shot on goal. He is Wales’ top scorer in the Nations League this season Johnston takes 1 or more shots on goal It feels good to play.

Yuri Tillmans was one of Belgium’s most important men in the Nations League. The Leicester midfielder may not have the best season for his club but he has scored a goal and assisted two so far for his country.

The goal he scored in the 1-1 draw with Wales came again in June and appears to have been successful initially here too. He averages 0.7 shots on goal per 90 minutes for the Foxes and Tielemans may only pull the trigger from range to get 1 or Mors Shots on target Against a tight-knit Wales team on Thursday night.
